Class of 2020 – Knox Sandlin

Knox was entering his fourth year as a member of the Marshall County track and field team. A distance specialist in the senior class, Knox consistently improved his times in each of his events consecutively over all four years—in the 800 meters, 1,600 meters, 3,200 meters, and 4 x 800 meter relay. Knox opened up his indoor season this year with a 10 second P.R. in the 1,600 meters.

Knox helped lead the cross country team to the state championship this past fall where they placed seventh, the best finish for the Marshals in over 20 years.

According to Coach Johnston, “Knox was another one of those guys who had dropped a lot of time over the cross country season and we had big plans for him on the track. He was one of our more versatile kids. We knew that it didn’t matter if we ran him in the 800 or the 3,200, he was a kid that would never complain and was going to go out and score points for us at the area race and regionals. Finding guys like Knox is rare and he will be greatly missed.”

Knox’s future plans are to earn degrees in the field of Athletic Training and Sports Medicine at Western Kentucky University.
