Changing the World in the Chaos

Before you make a political post on what America should be doing right now or share that meme that may or may not be true, take a moment to think about those who are alone in hospitals and nursing homes and those who desperately miss them.

Those afraid to come home from work because they may infect the ones they love the most.

Those who are saying goodbye to their loved ones over an iPad and will have no funeral to attend.

Those unable to proceed with the wedding they’ve been planning for years.

Those wondering how to pay their bills or what will happen when their family business closes.

Those who were already struggling with depression.

Those overwhelmed with homework and bored kids.

Those who have worked hard for years but are now unable to celebrate a traditional graduation.

Those whose plans have been wrecked.

It’s easy to sit back and criticize the men and women trying to lead our country out of this chaos and we have a lot of good people who are trying. You may even agree with some of them.

There are no easy answers here.

What we need are those who will enter the chaos with compassion. Those willing to pick up a phone and call or text someone to say they care. Those willing to take groceries to those who may be unable to leave their homes. Those who will volunteer to grieve with their neighbors. Those who will use their Spiritual Gifts to serve overs despite how inadequate they may feel doing so. Those who will look to the one who laid down his life for others and expects the same of his followers.

I’m for those who will put down their complaints and pick up their crosses. They have the ability to change the world.
