Robert Turner

Robert (Bob) Turner passed away at the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice center in Paducah, KY on March 27, 2020 at 8:30 pm.  He was a member of Briensburg Baptist Church.  As a member of the Baptist faith, he believed in the Bible. 2 Corinthians 5:8 says “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” We know he is there now.

Robert (Bob) was born in Trigg County, KY in 1942.  He lived in the Land Between the Lakes or as he liked to call it “Between the Rivers.” in the town of Golden Pond.  He graduated from Trigg County High School in 1960.  Shortly after graduating, he started working as a car dealer. Because of his love for this job, he continued working it for many years. In 1969, his life took a great turn, when he met the love of his life, Shirley Brindley Turner. The following year, in 1970, Shirley and him would get married and start their journey as a family. Together they had two children, Kathy Turner Rushing, and Jason Turner.  Later, he got a job with the Motor Vehicle Commission in KY as a Motor Vehicle Inspector, which he loved and fully retired from in 2019.

Robert (Bob) was a great husband, an amazing father, and wonderful brother.  He loved his family and friends with all that he had. He was very giving.  He helped many people in life just because he saw that they had a need.  He was a hard worker, a good communicator, and had a great sense of humor.  He was a Christian and knew the love of Jesus.

He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Shirley Brindley Turner; son Jason Turner; daughter Kathy Turner Rushing; son-in-law Randy Rushing; three grandsons, Randy Rushing Jr., Danny Rushing, and Joseph Rushing; one brother, Eddie Turner and wife Patsy Turner; one sister, Karen Turner Fitzgerald; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack Turner and Hazel Colson Cox; bonus father James Cox; and his brother, Jerry Turner.
