Wayne Maroney, 66

Wayne E. Maroney, age 66, of Benton,  passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at the Marshall County Hospital.

Wayne was born on July 25, 1953 in Louisville, KY to Charles and Robbie Skelton Maroney. Somewhere near the age of 17, Wayne’s Dad started to let him take the wheel and began taking runs driving his commercial truck with him. Undoubtedly, this is what led Wayne to have a love for commercial trucks. In the years that followed, Wayne began driving his own commercial truck for a variety of different companies and continued to do so for many years. However, his love for these commercial trucks and diesel engines did not stop with simply driving them. In the years that followed, he would go on to work as the Parts and Warranty Manager for Bowevil Express, and following that he even opened his own diesel repair shop called D&M Repair. He also spent a few short years serving as a Police Officer in Whiteville, TN. Wayne loved to spend his free time trout fishing and going hunting. Wayne was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his fiancé of 20 plus years, Renee Henson; five daughters, Paula Walker of Oakland, TN, Melanie Patterson of Waterloo, AL, Tamicka Hale of Aurora, KY, Hayley Maroney of Benton, KY, and Jasmine Maroney of Jefferson City, TN; two sons, Lonnie Maroney of Morristown, TN, and Skyler Maroney of Benton, KY; one brother, Tommy Maroney; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; ten cousins; one uncle; and several other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his grandchild, Jayden Maroney.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Filbeck-Cann Funeral Home of Milner & Orr is in charge of arrangements.
