It’s Time to Leave Home

Recently, theologian John MacArthur criticized Beth Moore for proclaiming Jesus. When asked about her (because she is a woman who speaks from a pulpit) he said, she needed to “go home”.

Church, we already have too many Christians going home. We have Christians who hear the word of God and then on their way home are rude to the waitress.

We have people who open their Bibles and pray the words then go home and cheat on their spouses and their taxes.

We have too many Christians going home to share political memes on social media and distancing themselves from their neighbors.

Too many Christians sitting at home getting defriended over things that don’t matter.

Too many who will argue over issues but won’t leave home when it’s time to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, or visit the imprisoned.

Church, we have too many people at home!

Give me those who know who they are in Christ. Show me the ones who proclaim the truth of God! The ones who aren’t afraid to declare the praises of the one who called them out of darkness. I want to stand with them. I want to hear about the hope of Christ. I need to be encouraged to speak his name.

I’m tired of a church that goes home to hide! Show me a church unafraid to change this world in the name of Jesus. It’s time to leave home.
