Arrest Made Following Local Credit Union Robbery

According to Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, on October 15, 2019, at approximately 3:50 p.m., Marshall County Dispatch received a call reporting an armed robbery at the Lake Chem Federal Credit Union in Draffenville. Deputies and Detectives responded to the area and determined a white male had entered the bank armed with a handgun and had taken an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect had left in a light colored Honda passenger car prior to the arrival of law enforcement.

At approximately 4:30 p.m., a vehicle matching the description was located and stopped near the intersection of Highway 408 and Highway 68. The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Benton PolIce Department and the Kentucky State Police during the traffic stop. The driver, Jeffrey “Micheal” Tapp, was taken into custody after evidence was located in the vehicle which is believed to be connected with the robbery.

Jeffrey “Michael” Tapp, age 63, of Benton KY, was arrested and charged with Robbery 1st Degree (Class B Felony) and Tampering with Physical Evidence (Class D Felony). Tapp was lodged in the Marshall County Jail.
