Below is an update on the current road construction in town from Mayor Rita Dotson:

An update on 5th St/Main/ Poplar: Paving intersection at 641 & 348 (5th St)at night through Friday. Continue paving in the daylight next week until the base asphalt is complete.
We anticipate Concreter’s to be moving to west end of project the end of next week to finalize that end.
First week of November we plan to put a top course of asphalt on the entire project (if all goes well). That will leave sidewalks and parking areas to finish hopefully this year.

Smith Construction has done a great job to keep traffic moving throughout this project!

Benton Gas is relocating gas lines on Main Street from 6th St to 9th. They are well on their way to finishing this and will move on to relocate lines from Regions to the parking lot at Hutchens BBQ on Poplar St.

The City of Benton will install 10” water lines from 9th to 15th St on Main in preparation to begin stormwater and road improvements on Poplar and Main. We hope to begin this around the 2nd week in November.

Lots of construction, but it will be well worth any inconvenience when it’s finished.
