KY 80 Bowles Creek Bridge in Hickman County reduced to 3-Ton load limit

PADUCAH, Ky. (Sept. 18, 2019) — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has reducted the Bowles Creek Bridge along KY 80 in Hickman County to a 3-ton load limit.

The order for the reduced limit noted that a recent review of the structure found the reduced load limit was appropriate due to the condition of the bridge superstructure.  The Bowles Creek Bridge is along KY 80 at Hickman County mile point 2.912, about ½ mile west of the Hickman-Carlisle County Line between Arlington and the KY 123 intersection near Columbus.

Signs have already been placed at each end of the bridge to reflect the 3-ton load limit.

The new limit restricts the bridge to traffic no heavier than a passenger vehicle or pickup truck.

The KYTC District 1 bridge engineering staff will further examine the bridge to determine if it can be repaired or if it should be replaced.
