Marshals play for district title Tuesday

Cole Griggs led the Marshals with two singles in their regular season loss to Paducah Tilghman.

Play will begin for the Marshals in the 4th District baseball tournament on Tuesday with a first round bye to the championship game. They will meet the winner of Murray/Calloway County on Tuesday at 6:30 at Murray Middle School.

The 26-7 Marshals finished the regular season with a 10-0 loss to Paducah Tilghman. Tilghman’s Jackson Fristoe pitched the shut-out, allowing four hits while striking out five. Fristoe was big at the plate for the Tornados, with two hits that included a solo home run in the fourth inning that put Tilghman up 8-0. Eric Riffle hit two homers, both solos in the top of the third and fourth innings.

Cole Griggs led the Marshals with two singles, Jordan Riley and Brady Ives each had a hit to combine for the Marshals four hits in the game. The Marshal utilized four pitchers in the game that combined to allow 11 hits.
