Marshall County’s boys placed second and the girls took third at Friday’s Area 1 Championships at McCracken County High School. Paducah Tilghman swept the meet with the Calloway County girls taking second and McCracken County rounded out the top three among the 16 boy’s teams.
The Marshall County girl’s team posted three first place finishes, coming in the 4 x 400 relay, Tori McCracken in the high jump and Sydney Temple in pole vault. Two second place finishes came from Tori Ford in the 400 meters and Presleigh Jennings in the high jump. Also among Friday’s meet highlights, Abigail Oakley set a new school record in the discus with a throw of 110-5.
The boy’s team recorded five first place finishes, two individual firsts by Cade Flatt in the 800 and 1600 meters, Ethan McCarty in the 3200 meters, Caleb Pahl in pole vault and the 4 x 400 relay team. The 4 x 800 relay team placed second and four third place finishes came from Will Davis in the 400 meters, Mason Cosner in the 800 meters, Christian Cosner in the 3200 meter race and Bryce Ladd in pole vault.
