Lady Marshals hold off Union County 3-2

Teammates greeted Gracey Murt at home plate following her home run over the left field fence in the second inning against Union County.

The Lady Marshals fell 12-2 to #6 Central Hardin on Saturday. Leading the Lady Bruins 2-1 after three innings, Central Hardin put up 11 big runs in the fourth inning for the 5-inning win on 12 hits. They followed the loss up on Tuesday with a nice 3-2 win over Union County.

A solo home run by Gracey Murt and single by Addie Young that scored Cayson Conner who reached base on a double, gave the Lady Marshals a 2-0 lead in the second inning. They took a 3-0 lead in the third on a Presley Jezik sacrifice that brought in Sarenna Tomassi who tripled to get on base.

A late surge from Union County in the top of the seventh brought in two runs on a double by Taylor Windell and single from Sarah Sampson. Gabbi Lovett struck out Railey Carter to end the threat, leaving two stranded on base for Union County.

Lovett earned the win allowing seven hits, two runs, struck out three and walked zero. Murt was perfect at the plate to lead the Marshall County hitters with a single, double and home run.
