Every ten years the U.S. Census Bureau conducts the nationwide census. The results of the census determine not only how many seats each state will have in Congress but also the amount of federal funding that is allocated to all communities. At this time, it is recruiting thousands of workers for temporary jobs throughout the country in advance of the 2020 Census. It needs people in Marshall County. The 2020 Census Jobs website (https://2020census.gov/jobs) allows applicants to apply for a range of positions including recruiting assistants, office operations supervisors, clerks, census field supervisors, and census takers by completing a single application online. The jobs will offer great pay, flexible work hours, and paid training. For example, census takers in Marshall County will make $14 per hour. Field employees will also be reimbursed for authorized work expenses like mileage. For more information, contact 1-855-JOB-2020 and select option 3. Applicants may also contact the Federal Relay Service at 1-800-877- 8339.

An applicant must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age, have a valid social security number, and have a valid email address. Males born after December 31, 1959 will also need to have proof of registration with Selective Service. Anyone in Marshall County that would like to apply but does not have access to a computer or smartphone can go to any of the three Marshall County Public Libraries in Benton, Hardin, and Calvert City where public access computers are available. Census positions provide a perfect opportunity for seniors, students, part-time workers, seasonal workers, musicians, artists, and volunteers to earn extra income while helping their community.
