The Sheriff’s Office would like to warn the public of a phone scam being conducted in the County. The caller identifies himself as being a Marshall County Sheriff’s Office Deputy and states that they have missed a court date, or are not in compliance with the sex offender registry, and instructs the victim to purchase prepaid credit card. The subject then request the security code from the card to “release the warrant”. This is a scam, an Officer will NEVER collect payment for a warrant, a fine, or a bond. If you receive such a call hang up immediately.
