Letters to the Editor: Veterans Day Parade

I think it is poor marketing and poor planning, let alone lack of consideration to the Marshall county community, to schedule the 2018 Veterans day parade on a Sunday morning during church services. Look around at all the churches in our community and you will soon realize we are a county that likes to go to church to worship GOD. We also are a very patriotic county, and want to support our veterans. What a shame it is that the people responsible for planning this event is forcing a choice between going to church or a parade to honor our veterans. I am from Calvary Baptist Church in Gilbertsville, and I WILL be at church. GOD first. I wonder how many people WOULD have been glad to go to the parade, and made it so much more successful, and showing our support for our veterans, if the time was not during worship services. It could EASILY be scheduled for afternoon, either 1pm or 2 pm for that day!

Who is responsible for holding a parade on Sunday Morning 11/11? I am all in for
Celebrating our Veterans. My husband, father and generations of men have fought and died in wars going back to the Revolutionary War.
The timing of the parade is the issue. The Parade will block 641 preventing people from getting to church. I understand the significance of the time 11:11. In reality having a parade on 641 is Never a good idea. Having it on Sunday morning is a disgrace to the Veterans and our county. The Veterans I know would rather be in church thanking God for their safe return home and thanking God for our country than having a parade. Please consider putting off the parade until Monday when Veterans Day is observed by the Federal Govt. or changing the time till the afternoon. Again I ask who planned this parade?

I just found out about the veterans parade being held on Sunday morning, I think that would be a huge mistake, I also honor the veterans who fought for our country and some gave their life , But I am a born again Christian and we must put God first , I pray they will reconsider this whoever is in charge and not do this on Sunday morning, it seems nothing is sacred in our country anymore

Very dumb having parade on Sunday during Church hours. Making Veterans chose between fellow Veterans and going to Church.
