Kentucky State Skeet Shoot, Hall of Fame inductees

Troy Stevenson of Calvert City was inducted into the Kentucky State Skeet Shooting Hall of Fame, pictured here receiving a plaque from Dr. Kenneth Ford.

The Kentucky State Skeet Shoot was held Aug 17-19 at the Chief Paduke Gun Club in McCracken County. Michael Schlarman from the Lloyd Area Gun Club in Crittenden, Grant Co, Ky was the big winner winning High Overall and High All Around championships.

Barry Stevenson from the Calvert City Gun Club won the Doubles event breaking 98/100. Dr. Kevin Parrott from the Jefferson Gun Club in Louisville won the 12 gauge event with a perfect 100/100. Schlarman won both the 20 gauge and 28 gauge events with 100’s in each. Dr. Kenneth Ford from the Calvert City Gun Club won the 410 event with the only 100/100. Schlarman had a tie breaking shoot off with Dennis Burns from the Chief Paduke Gun club to win both the High Overall and the High All Around events with a 394/400 and 486/500 respectively.

The Kentucky State Skeet Association announced the inauguration of the Kentucky Skeet Shooting Hall of Fame with the induction of four members at the Kentucky State Skeet Tournament held at the Chief Paduke Gun Club in McCracken County.

The following were elected:
Dr. Keath Edwin Hammon 7/18/1927 – 1/19/2001 (Louisville, Ky) 33 Individual State Championships between 1963 and 1986 including 9 High OverAll Championships All American 13 times including First Team Open selection in 65 and 66.

Eugene Milton Wenz, Jr 2/17/1926 – 5/4/1997 (Louisville, Ky) 25 Individual State Championships between 1949 and 1967 including 8 High OverAll Championships.

Dr. Ted Hatfield (Florida) 28 Individual State Championships between 1969 and 1995 including 6 High OverAll Championships All American 10 times National Skeet Shooting Association Hall of Fame 1993 Past President of the Jefferson Gun Club Shoot Chairman of the Kentucky Bluegrass Shoot and in 1992 it became the 4th largest shoot in the US Past President of the Kentucky Skeet Shooting Association President of the National Skeet Shooting Association 1984-1986 Member of the All American selection committee.
