Leadership Marshall County Announces Class Participants

Leadership Marshall County is proud to reveal the newest class of participants since 2015. The program has four Leadership MC alumni classes since it its re-emergence in 2011 and now after a few years off, started back up this month with the new Class of 2018-2019. Participants were chosen based on a number of criteria, but mainly because of their interest in the community and their potential for leadership.

Those selected for the program this year are: Jessica Adams-Lake Chem Community FCU, Brittany Story-Heritage Bank, Stephanie Trexler-Purchase Youth Village, Bryson Gibbs-Shop-O-Rama, Dallas Jo Young-CFSB, Jacob Puckett-United Systems & Software, Kayla Wallace-Peel & Holland, Brent Powell-Tennessee Valley Authority, Elizabeth Rohrer-Lake Chem Community FCU, and Cathy Thompson-Marshall County Health Department. This group got under way September 19th with an all-day retreat held out at the Crossings Camp on Jonathan Creek and will end with graduation in June of 2019.

The nine month program is designed to provide information about various resources, organizations and institutions within Marshall County. Each monthly session of the program will provide an in-depth look at topics such as law/corrections, healthcare, government, tourism, economic development, agriculture, and education as well as a trip to Frankfort to tour capitol and state government.

“Our initial goal is to provide information to the participants about the systems that make up Marshall County, but our ultimate goal is to foster in them a desire for a higher level of community involvement that will help direct the future growth and development of Marshall County,” said Debbie Buchanan, Director of the Kentucky Lake Chamber of Commerce. Through lectures, activities and tours, the program will help participants examine specific aspects of social and economic issues and how they relate to the county, region and state.
