Five Charged With Drug Offenses

A joint investigation between the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department, Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, the Paducah Police Department and Deputy US Marshals has led to five different individuals being charged with various drug and weapon offenses in the past two days in McCracken County.

On 09/18/2018 at approximately 1:10pm detectives conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Holt Road driven by 22 year old Tyler Bray of Metropolis IL. During the stop detectives smelled the odor the Marijuana coming from the vehicle. Bray admitted that he had Marijuana inside the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle detectives seized over nine ounces of high grade Marijuana. Detectives also seized $439 off of Bray’s person that is believed to be proceeds of illegal drug sales. Bray was arrested and lodged in the McCracken County Regional Jail.

On 09/19/2018 at approximately 2:16pm detectives conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at the intersection of Seitz and Old Mayfield Road. The vehicle was found to be occupied by Chasity Tabor and Derek Barnhill. Tabor, who was operating the vehicle, had a suspended license. While deputies were issuing a citation for traffic offenses, PPD Sgt. Shawn Craven arrived and deployed his K-9 “Huub” around the outside of the vehicle. K-9 Huub indicated to the presence of illegal narcotics coming from the vehicle. During a search of the search of the vehicle, detectives seized approximately five grams of Crystal Methamphetamine, Valium, smoking pipes, scales, and Smith and Wesson .40 handgun. The handgun had an obscured serial number where someone had attempted to remove the serial number to prevent law enforcement from identifying if it was stolen. Barnhill is a convicted felon and unable to lawfully possess a firearm. Detectives seized $545 in US currency from Barnhill that is believed to be proceeds of illegal drug sales. Both Tabor and Barnhill were arrested.

On 09/19/2018 detectives obtained information that Kendrick Malone, who was a federal fugitive out Memphis TN, was staying at 503 Highland Boulevard Apartment “E” Paducah KY 42003. Detectives also obtained information alleging that Malone was selling Methamphetamine from the apartment. As part of the ensuing investigation McCracken detectives, Marshall County detectives and Deputy US Marshals obtained and executed a search warrant at 503 Highland Boulevard Apartment E Paducah, KY 42003 at 1035pm. Kendrick Malone and Daisy Downen were located inside the apartment. During a search of the residence detectives seized 102 grams of Crystal Methamphetamine, Marijuana, scales, smoking pipe and $901 in US currency that his believed to be proceeds of illegal drug sales. Malone was arrested and lodged in the McCracken County Regional Jail. Downen was cited and released.

The seized Methamphetamine in the case against Malone has an estimated street value of more than $10,000. Malone is an alleged gang member from Memphis, TN who has an extensive criminal history.

Charges: Disregarding stop sign, license to in possession, Trafficking Marijuana over 8oz-5lbs 2nd or subsequent offense and drug paraphernalia

Arrested: Chasity Tabor 38, of Paducah KY

Charges: Operating on a suspended license, no insurance and possession of Methamphetamine

Arrested: Derek Barnhill 41, of Paducah KY

Charges: Firearm enhanced trafficking in Meth, possession of handgun by a felon, possession of a defaced firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia

Arrested: Kendrick Malone 42, of Paducah KY

Charges: Trafficking in Methamphetamine 2nd or subsequent offense, possession of Marijuana, drug paraphernalia and fugitive from another state ( outstanding federal probation violation out of Memphis TN on underlying drug trafficking charges)

Cited: Daisy L. Downen 37, of Paducah KY

Charges: Possession of Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia
