CFS wins in five sets over Marshall County

Coming off their Region 1 All ‘A’ Championship, the CFS Lady Eagles were ready to meet a Marshall County team that beat them in their first meeting this season in five sets. Always a very competitive, exciting game among the two friendly rivals, this time the Lady Eagles came out on top in five sets.

The back and forth battle resulted in back and forth wins, CFS taking the first set 25-23, Marshall County the second 25-16, the third back to CFS 25-20 and the fourth for the tie to Marshall County 26-24. The Lady Eagles claimed the win in the fifth and deciding set 15-8.

Abigail Cima was a force at the net for CFS with 21 kills while Marshall County’s Halle Langhi was equally as fierce with 18 kills. Leading in assists for CFS, Emma Alexander had 11 and Marshall County’s Sarah Bradley with 38.

Two CFS starters -Maggie Wagner and Kenzie Murdock – left the game with injuries.  Brecksyn Etheridge, McCartney Derington and Cameron Slayden filled in nicely in the win. CFS (10-3) travels to Murray for a game Thursday, then head to Richmond Friday for the All ‘A’ State Tournament. Marshall County (8-7) plays McCracken County at home Thursday.
