Madisonville-North Hopkins takes 3-1 victory over Lady Marshals

Marshall County and Madisonville-North Hopkins last met on the pitch four years ago on September 5th in a 2-1 decision in favor of the Lady Marshals. The Lady Maroons came into Thursday’s game at Colburn Stadium 5-1 with their only loss to Henderson County. Those five wins behind 22 goals by freshman Camryn LaGrange while out-scoring their opponents 37-4 with three shutouts.

LaGrange added two more goals to that total Thursday, scoring the first two against the Lady Marshals in their 3-1 win. The first coming 12 minutes in and the second eight minutes into the second half. A couple of minutes later, Madisonville scored their third goal and held the 3-0 lead until Carmen Gunn found the net on an assist from Hope Howard with 17 and a half left in the game. Gunn had a couple more shots on goal in the closing five minutes, saved by the Madisonville keeper.

Time of possession was in the favor of the Lady Marshals who had 12 shots in the game, eight on goal and five corners. Madisonville had eight shots, five on goal and one corner. Half of the Lady Marshals shots came from Gunn with six, three of those on goal. Lindy King took three shots, two on goal. Carlen Whirley had two saves and the Madisonville keeper came up with seven.

The Lady Marshals, record 4-4, will play at Hopkinsville on Tuesday.
