Marshall County Residents Invited to Discover Everything the Marshall County Parks Department Has to Offer

BENTON, KY – [July 16th, 2018] – Summer is here, which means it’s time to get out and discover the great things happening at your local parks and recreation centers. This July, explore the “undiscovered” roles of local parks and recreation with the Marshall County Parks Department as they celebrate Park and Recreation Month, A Lifetime of Discovery.

Marshall County Parks Department is celebrating Park and Recreation Month, an initiative of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), by inviting you to explore A Lifetime of Discovery at your local parks and rec. Playgrounds, walking trails, boat ramps, sports leagues, aquatic facilities, and community events are just a few of the things that come to mind when we think of parks and rec. But, parks and recreation is SO much more than that! During Park and Recreation Month, we invite our community to discover more about our department and its operations, our county parks, and all that your local parks and recreation offers.

The Marshall County Parks Department will be celebrating Park and Recreation Month by offering the community a “behind the scenes” tour of our department and our county parks. July 22nd through July 28th, we will be engaging the community daily with informative content highlighting topics such as: daily operations and maintenance, facilities, outdoor education, planning & development, community events, and recreation opportunities.

Visit our Facebook page – Mike Miller Park – for updates and information about our Parks and Recreation Month celebration!

An Open House tour of Mike Miller County Park and its daily operations will be held on July 26th. Two tours will be available at 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM, with tours lasting approximately 1 hour. We ask that those attending the Open House tours be prepared to spend the majority of the tour outdoors and to wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes. Water and sunscreen will be provided by the Parks Department. Please RSVP by July 25th to mikemillerpark@gmail.com or by contacting us at (270) 527-5284.

Those who unable to attend the Open House tours provided or needing special accommodations may schedule a private tour upon request.

NRPA encourages people that support parks and recreation to share why they think it’s important to explore and discover all Marshall County Parks Department has to offer with the hashtag #DiscoverJuly. To learn more about national Park and Recreation Month, visit www.nrpa.org/July.
