Matthew Ray signed Monday at Marshall County High School to continue his cross-country and track career at Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, TN. Ray joins the program under eighth year track and cross-country Head Coach Derrick Spradlin.

Ray has been running cross-country since the seventh grade and his focus and determination led him to the state cross-country meet with the Marshall County High School team his freshman and senior seasons. Ray advanced to the state meet as an individual his sophomore year. He is also a member of the track and field team and runs the two-mile event.

During his career at Marshall County, Ray’s accomplishments have come on and off the course and he is exited to continue to represent the Marshals at FHU. Ray has a challenging academic schedule that includes many AP classes and ranks in the top 15 percent of his senior class.

Along with family members, Ray was joined at his signing by his coaches, cross-country and track teammates and members of his church youth group.
