A particularly wet and rainy February will continue this week, according to the National Weather Service in Paducah.

NWS forecasters say the first round of thunderstorms and rain are expected to begin tonight in the region. That initial round of rain could increase the possibility of flooding throughout the region, as another round of widespread showers and thunderstorms is expected to begin Thursday and continue through Saturday. Heavy rainfall is expected during that time, increasing the chance of flooding with each rain, according to NWS.

Temperatures, while unseasonably high in recent days, are expected to become cooler next week.
