Polar Plunge for Special Olympics brings in over $75,000

Plungers braved the chilly waters of Kentucky Lake for a good cause at Saturday’s Peel and Holland Western Kentucky Polar Plunge.

The 9th Western Kentucky Polar Plunge for Special Olympics took place Saturday at the Kentucky Dam Village Resort and Convention Center. The rain didn’t dampen the spirits of the plungers who were already “Freezin’ for a Reason”. Polar Plunge events began with the 5K run followed by the Opening Ceremonies in the Convention Center. Prizes were awarded to the top individual, team and law enforcement fundraisers as well as the always popular costume contest. The plunging into Kentucky Lake began at 11:30 am. Total amount raised for Special Olympics as of Saturday was $75,000.
