Marshall County grand jury hands down indictments for attempted murder, drug offenses

The following individuals were indicted by a Marshall County grand jury Tuesday, Nov. 14 in Benton:

  • Anthony W. Curtis, 54, of 335 Fred Jones Road, Hardin: theft by extortion (two counts)
  • Amanda Marie Curtis, 37, of 335 Fred Jones Road, Hardin: theft by extortion (two counts)
  • Coty A. Savage, 30, of 5251 Boone Trail Road, Duffield, VA: attempted murder of a police officer; speeding 26 mph or more above the speed limit; reckless driving; careless driving; first-degree wanton endangerment; failure or improper signal; failure to give oncoming traffic half of the highway; no registration plates; failure to report a traffic accident; leaving the scene of an accident/failure to render aid or assistance; first-degree fleeing or evading police in a motor vehicle; first-degree criminal mischief
  • Carri Michelle Henson, 43, of 1210 Center Drive, Apt. D, Murray: first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), first offense; possession or drug paraphernalia
  • Brandie Bailey, 34, of 148 Alaska St., Calvert City: aggravated DUI, first offense; driving on a suspended or revoked license; first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), first offense; possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Aaron Dripps, 31, of 56 W. Unity Church Road, Hardin: trafficking in marijuana fewer than 8 ounces, first offense; enhanced trafficking in marijuana more than 8 ounces but fewer than 5 pounds, first offense; enhanced first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance greater than or equal to 10 dosage units of opiates, first offense; enhanced second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance fewer than 20 dosage units of a drug unspecified, second offense

  • Dexter Ray Fletcher, 29, of 530 County Park Road, Paducah: receiving stolen property (firearm), two counts
  • Christopher C. Martin, 51, of 798 U.S. Hwy. 68 E, Benton: first-degree promoting contraband
  • Billy Joe Williams, 42, of 601 Burdine St., Amory, MS: second-degree assault, domestic violence; tampering with a witness (two counts)
  • James Treaven Harrell, 29, of 950 Wright Road, Murray: second-degree burglary; theft by unlawful taking from building, $500 or more but less than $10,000
  • Anthony Benke, 36, of 7445 Aurora Hwy., Benton: first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), first offense; possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Jesse R. Williams, 39, 1611 Filmore St., Metropolis, IL: theft by unlawful taking or disposition, shoplifting, $500 or more but less than $10,000

The Marshall County grand jury meets on the second Tuesday of each month. Indictments indicate that the jury found enough evidence to present a case in court; however, indictments are not convictions. All accused parties are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
