Marshall County students earn top honors at KYHSRA Western Regional Finals

Josey Powell, Rylen Sutherland, Kolton Powell and Marlee Henson with their awards from KYHSRA Western Regional Finals.

Four Marshall County students earned honors at the KYHSRA (Kentucky High School Rodeo Association) Western Regional Finals with three of the four coming away with the top honor of All Around Cowboy/Cowgirl.

Sister and brother Josey Powell and Kolton Powell, and cousin Rylen Sutherland, all of Benton, each won the All Around title.

Josey, a senior, is the daughter of Ruble and Daysha Powell. She won All Around Cowgirl, Breakaway Roping Champion, Goat Tying Reserve Champion , Barrel Racing 4th place and Team Roping-Header Reserve Champion. Josey will attend Monticello Arkansas University on a Rodeo scholarship.

Kolton, and eighth grader, is the son of Ruble and Daysha Powell . He also won All Around Cowboy, Steer Saddle Bronc Champion, Chute Dogging Champion, Tie down Roping Champion, Goat Tying Champion, Ribbon Roping Reserve Champion, Team Roping-Header Reserve Champion and Bareback Steer Champion.

Rylen Sutherland, a junior, is the son of Brooks Sutherland, Dayna Sutherland and Leon Kay . He won All Around Cowboy, Steer Wrestling Champion, Tie Down Roping Champion and Team Roping-Heeler Reserve Champion.

Marlee Henson, a senior, is the daughter of Van and Theresa Henson. She won Barrel Racing Champion and Trap Shooting Champion. Marlee plans to attend Murray State University.
