Lady Eagles finish season on high note in double-header sweep of Fort Campbell

Christian Fellowship finished their 2017 softball season with a double-header sweep over Fort Campbell Friday, to finish with a 10-10 overall record. In the first game of the evening, a seven run third inning propelled the Lady Eagles to an 8-5 win. Freshman Jaycie Jackson led CFS with three of their 10 hits in the game, Maddie Ortt hit two singles and got the win on the mound, allowing nine hits, five runs – just one earned run and struck out four batter.

Freshman Abigail Cima wrapped up her 2017 season in a big way with a double and two home runs including a grand slam and seven RBIs in the second game of the double-header. Fort Campbell led 2-0 after the first inning that CFS tied with two runs in the second. Both teams scored two runs in the third to remain tied at 4-4 before the Lady Eagles exploded for 12 runs in the fourth inning on their way to a 16-5 win on 11 hits.


CFS went 3-3 in the month of May, starting with a 13-1 win over St. Mary on May 2nd in five innings on 12 hits. Cima was three for four at the plate with a single, triple, home run and four RBI’s. Ortt pitched five innings, allowed six hits, one run and struck out four batters.

On May 9th, the Lady Eagles fell to Murray 12-0 in five innings with three hits, two of which came from sophomore Caitlyn Ivy who hit a single and a double. Murray had 12 hits in the win.

Against Dawson Springs on May 11th, CFS fell behind 4-0 in the first inning and struggled with 10 errors, unable to cut into the lead of Dawson Springs, scoring a run in the third and one in fifth in the 8-2 loss. Edie Little, a freshman, led in hitting with two singles in four plate appearances with three more singles coming from Cima, Ivy and Abbie Fletcher.

University Heights got the best of the Lady Eagles on Tuesday in a 10-3 win on 16 hits. Cima, Fletcher and Rachel Howard hit doubles in the game with RBI’s going to Cima and Ortt. University Heights led 6-3 at the end of the fifth inning and put the game away with a four-run sixth inning. They were led by Rachael Snyder with two doubles and a triple and Regan Pollard with four singles.
