Muhlenberg County anglers win KHSAA State Bass Fishing Tournament

GILBERTSVILLE – Sixty-four teams vied for the state title at Friday and Saturday’s KHSAA State Bass Fishing Tournament at Kentucky Dam Marina. The teams launched each day at 7:00 am with a weigh-in at 3:30 pm.

Two Marshall County teams qualified through the regional tournament, Tanner Martin/Gavin Grant and Conor Washburn/Riley Harris. Martin and Grant finished day one of the tournament in fourth place with a five fish limit of 19-3 but the second day caught three fish weighing in at 6-12 for a two-day total of 25-15 good for 22nd overall.

Washburn and Harris weighed in five fish the first day at 14-2 and five on the second day at 12-4 for a total of 26-6 and a 21st place finish.

Muhlenberg County’s Taylor Harris and Braxten Beasley won the tournament with a huge second day five fish total of 21-14 which added to their first day of 16-12 gave them a winning weight of 38-10. Their big second day was thanks in part to a 7-7 bass caught by Harris that won the Biggest Bass Award.

The Midway University/KHSAA Female Student – Athlete of the Year award went to Morgan Miracle of Garrard County.
