Marshals win three straight to move to 15-5

JC Goins allowed just one hit in five innings in the Marshals 10-0 shut out over Murray.

The Marshals have won their last three games 10-0 over Murray and two wins over East Alton-Wood River, IL 8-2 and 1-0 in the Dinger Wooden Bat Classic on Saturday.

JC Goins threw a shutout over Murray on Thursday, allowing just one hit, no walks and striking out seven in five innings. The Marshals scoring began in the bottom on the second on an RBI double by Dawson Smothers and they added four more runs in the third inning on a double by Cole Griggs, double by Lucas Forsythe and two-run single by CJ Johnson.

Two more runs in the fourth followed by three more in the fifth gave the Marshals a five inning 10-0 district win on 12 hits.

The Marshals took control over East Alton-Wood River with a four run third inning, scoring on singles by Griggs and Forsythe and two bases loaded walks by Johnson and Smothers. A double by Smothers in the fifth inning made it a 5-1 game but a three run sixth put the game away on an error and two run single by Johnson for the 8-2 win on 11 hits.

Griffen Ives picked up the win in five innings on the mound allowing three hits and one run.

Game two against East Alton went to the seventh inning when the Marshals scored one run on a balk by the pitcher for the 1-0 win. Griggs and Forsythe each hit singles, Andersson hit two singles and Dyke had a double at the plate. Weston Harper pitched five innings, allowing six hits and no runs with Brown finishing the game on the mound one inning, allowing one hit.

The 15-5 Marshals will play at 16-5 McCracken County on Tuesday.
