Cameron King State Champion, numerous team accolades for Marshall County

The Marshall County Speech Team experienced many successes this year, leading up to the KHSSL (Kentucky High School Speech League) state tournament; which took place in Lexington, KY from March 9th-11th. As a team, Marshall County was recognized as a school of distinction among Kentucky’s High Schools, an award presented to schools
with high levels of competitors in the final round of the tournament.

Cameron King

Nine entries advanced to the quarter and semi-final rounds (top twelve in the state) of the tournament, with competitors Tessa Northcutt, Dalton York, Mary Cox, Jesse Burgess, and Cameron King making up those entries. Four students advanced to the final round (top six in the state); a huge accomplishment in a tournament with nearly four hundred seventy competitors.

Dalton York, who will be traveling to complete in Extemporaneous Speaking at the Grand National Tournament this summer, and was named 3rd in Broadcasting and 4th in Impromptu Speaking. Mary Cox and Jesse Burgess were awarded 4th place in Duo Improvisation. Big congratulations to Cameron King, Broadcasting State Champion!
