Marshals Head Football Coach Evan Merrick has been named 5A, District 1 Coach of the Year by the Kentucky Football Coaches Association.
In his third year as head coach, Merrick guided the Marshals to a 5-5 record in the regular season against one of the toughest schedules in the state.
Of the Marshals 10 regular season opponents, three won district championships and three were runner-up’s.
The five wins were the most for the Marshals program in a season since 2012.
He also guided the Marshals to their first district football victory in four years, a win that earned the Marshals their first trip to the playoffs in two years.
