Go To Church

One preacher asked another “How many members do you have in your church?” The other preacher replied “About 500.” “And how many are active members?” “They are all active,” the pastored answered, “Some are active for the Lord and some are active for the devil.”

That is actually true. No one lives in a vacuum. There is no neutral when it comes to serving God. Jesus is either Lord or something else comes first in your life.

A man said to a Presbyterian pastor, “I came to church once and you threw water in my face.” The pastor answered, “You will come back again and we will throw dirt in your face.” I have forgotten where I first read the following:

If you wait for the hearse to TAKE you to church

  1. You will go regardless of the weather.
  2. You will go regardless of how your family feels.
  3. You will have beautiful flowers but you will not enjoy them.
  4. Regardless how good the singing is you won’t enjoy it.
  5. No matter what the minister says you will receive no benefit from his message.
  6. You will be at the alter but you won’t pray.
  7. You will never be able to attend church again.
  8. You will be there no matter how many hypocrites are in attendance.
  9. You will go no matter how much you are needed on the job or at home.

The minister had rather help you now than to try to console your loved ones when you die without Christ. I had rather be like the Psalmist who said, “I was glad when they said unto me, let us go into the house of the Lord!”
