A well-known saying is: “Nothing is sure except death and taxes.” The statement is well known but not true. I would say “most people pay taxes and most people are going to die.” There is one thing that is absolutely certain – Jesus Christ is going to return to the earth. The inspired Word of God has 318 references to the return of Christ. Jesus Christ Himself said He was going to return. You count on it – He is going to return!
The Bible tells us that when He returns, the dead in Christ will be raised and the living Believers will be changed and caught up with them to meet the Lord in the air. We call this the Rapture of the believers. Like Enoch and Elijah they will be transported to heaven without dying.
When is that going to happen? Jesus said, “No man knows the day nor the hour.” Jesus did give some signs that will take place as we near His return (Matthey 24:3 – 14). Earthquakes, famine, pestilence, wars, people being angry and easily offended, lawlessness, growing cold in love, falling away from faith, and the gospel will be preached all over the world. Do you see any of these things today?
Jesus gave us some good advice. “Watch and pray and be ready for you don’t know when your Lord will return!”
