BENTON – What began as a 9-month project is now celebrating its 9th year. The Hugs Project of Western Kentucky began nine years ago by Gayron Ferguson when it was brought to his attention that not all of the men and women serving our country overseas received those important cards and packages from home.

The objective of The Hugs Project is “to provide love and support to our heroes serving around the world and let them know we have not forgotten them and appreciate their sacrifices for us.”hugs project

This 501(c)(3) organization that operates 100%  with volunteers supports every member of every branch of service while deployed if possible. The public can help their cause by contacting them when a member of their family or a friend is deployed.

The Hugs Project holds various events to raise funds, get items, pre-pack and fill bins and pack and mail boxes out to our troops.

The Hugs Project will “continue to support those who continue to watch over us” until they all come home.
