Daytime Lane Restriction on US 68/KY 80 Lake Barkley Bridge at Canton TODAY & TUESDAY

Traffic ADVISORY

A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to restrict traffic to
one lane on the US 68/KY 80 Lake Barkley Bridge at Canton TODAY and TUESDAY.

The daytime lane restriction starting around 10:00 a.m., CST, each day, is to allow
concrete deck patching work on the existing bridge. Motorists should be alert for
one lane traffic with alternating flow controlled by flaggers in this work zone.

This daytime lane restriction on the existing US 68/KY 80 Lake Barkley Bridge at
Canton is expected to be in place from 10:00 a.m., CST, to about 3:30 p.m., today
and Tuesday.

A crew will be back on the bridge later in the week for a short time to check on the
repairs and remove plates used to protect the concrete while it cures.

The US 68/KY 80 Cumberland River/Lake Barkley Bridge, also known as the Lawrence
Memorial Bridge and the Canton Bridge, carries approximately 3,800 vehicles across
Lake Barkley/The Cumberland River in an average day. The bridge is located at US 68
mile point 8.596 in Trigg County and serves as the eastern entrance to Land Between
The Lakes National Recreation Area. The bridge is at Cumberland River navigational
mile point 63.1.

PCL Civil Construction of Denver has started construction of a new $128.3 million
Lake Barkley Bridge immediately downstream from the existing structure.

The new Lake Barkley Bridge is expected to be open to traffic by October 2017. It
will be of a basket handle arch design to match the New Eggners Ferry Bridge over
Kentucky Lake under construction at Aurora.
