Winter Storm WARNING issued for our area

For the second time this week, the National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a Winter Storm WARNING for all of western Kentucky, portions of southern Illinois, and all of northwest Tennessee.

The warning is in effect from 6:00 pm through midnight Friday.

Meteorologists expect up to 2/10 of an inch of ice accumulation over the area this evening, with the greatest amounts being around the West Kentucky Parkway area.

The weather service also expects varying accumulations of snow, with the heaviest amounts to be east of the lakes area (up to 6 inches), with 1 to 2 inches of snow across the central and northern portions of McCracken County, and 2-4 inches across the southern and southeastern portions of the county.

The further north you go from Paducah, the less snow expected.  The further south and east you go, the more snow that’s expected.

The northwest edge of the significant snow accumulations is still in flux, so adjustments to the warning area are possible, according to NWS.
