Gas prices up slightly in our area

Average retail gasoline prices in Kentucky have risen 2.9 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $1.87 a gallon Sunday, according to GasBuddy.

This compares with the national average that has not moved in the last week to $2.00 a gallon.

In the Jackson Purchase, prices are ranging from $1.75 to $1.99 a gallon.

Including the change in gas prices in Kentucky during the past week, prices are 23.9 cents per gallon lower than the same day one year ago and are 1.4 cents per gallon higher than a month ago.

The national average has decreased 4.2 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 28.2 cents per gallon lower than one year ago.
