UPDATE: Comfort Inn & Suites reopens after meth investigation

After being closed for four days to an extensive investigation by the Marshall County Health Department, and cleanup by local law enforcement, the Comfort Inn & Suites in Draffenville has reopened.

Authorities no longer consider the area to be of concern to public health.

The hotel was closed last Wednesday when residents began noticing a strong odor from one of the rooms, which was found to have ingredients used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine.

Jason B. Smith, 33, of Tompkinsville was charged with manufacturing meth and booked into the Marshall County Detention Center.

He was in the area as part of a road construction crew in Benton.
