Meth lab found at Marshall County hotel

A Marshall County hotel was the site of a meth lab, and an area resident has been charged.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office said Jason B. Smith, 33, of Tompkinsville, KY was arrested after deputies found all of the ingredients for a meth lab in his room at the Comfort Inn & Suites in Draffenville.

Deputies later found Smith on Poplar Street in Benton were he was working.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, he was found to be in possession of meth paraphernalia.

Smith was charged with manuafacturing methamphetamine, possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was booked in the Marshall County Detention Center.

Marshall County Emergency Management removed the chemicals and have temporarily shut down the hotel on Hwy 641/68 until the Marshall County Health Department can conduct a thorough inspection.

According to the hotel, 23 people were booked into the hotel at the time the odor was noticed.
