A Marshall County High School student lost her life in a single-vehicle accident just south of Murray while returning home after cheering at a Marshall County basketball game on Thursday night.
According to the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office, Dasha Roberts, 18, of New Concord, was driving south nearing the 10446 block of Hwy 121 South between Murray and New Concord at 10:17 pm when the accident occurred.
The Sheriff’s Office said that, for unknown reasons, Roberts crossed the center line, ran off the left side of the highway with her vehicle coming to rest in a ditch after striking a tree with the passenger side of the automobile.
Murray-Calloway EMS transported Roberts to Murray-Calloway County Hospital where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Roberts was not wearing a seat belt, according to authorities on the scene.
