Local youth share in the spirit of giving, fill 100 Thanksgiving baskets for those in need

thanksgivingbasketsOn Sunday, November 22, at 1:30 p.m., Marshall County United Methodist Youth and Children will gather at the Briensburg UMC Family Life Center to fill 100 food baskets for people in the community who are in need this Thanksgiving.

The group will then deliver the baskets throughout Marshall County. According to Jenny Darnall, a coordinator of the project, food was collected from the Marshall County United Methodist Churches, local scout troops and other sponsors.

Items collected were:
100 jars or packets turkey gravy (Olive)
100 boxes stove top stuffing (Benton First)
100 bags granulated sugar (Mt. Carmel)
100 cans evaporated milk (Briensburg)
100 cans sweet potatoes (Boy and Girl Scouts)
100 cans corn (Oakland)
100 cans pumpkin (Maple Springs)
100 cans cranberry sauce (Pleasant Grove)
100 bags brown sugar (Calvert)
100 cans green beans (Union Ridge)
100 bags flour (Dexter Hardin)
100 boxes instant Potatoes (Church Grove)
100 cans cake frosting (Palma)
100 boxes cake mixes (Oak Level)

Monetary donations are still being accepted and should be made payable to the Marshall County UMC Youth and Children, and mailed c/o Briensburg UMC, 1908 Briensburg Rd., Benton, KY 42025.
