The National Weather Service office in Paducah has issued a flash flood watch beginning late tonight for most of western Kentucky.

A large scale storm system moves into the area today, and showers will give way to heavy rain and thunderstorms by tonight.

The updated hydrologic outlook from NWS still includes widespread rains with the possibility of two, three, even up to five inches of rain for different parts of our region Monday through Wednesday.

The lakes area of western Kentucky looks to be in line for about three inches of rain, with amounts tapering down eastward.

Even though the rain may be spread over a three-day period, Monday’s rainfall may be enough to saturate the ground in some areas. Then as heavier rains occur Tuesday and Tuesday night, some rapid runoff may take place.
