Pastor Quits Sports

johntparish“Pastor Quits Sports!” Here are 12 Reasons:

  1. Every time I went they asked me for money.
  2. The people who sat near me were not friendly.
  3. I went to many games, but the coach did not visit me when I was in the hospital.
  4. The seats were uncomfortable.
  5. The referee made decisions that I considered wrong.
  6. Some games went into overtime.
  7. Some were hypocrites – they come to the game but did not really love that sport.
  8. The band played some numbers I did not know.
  9. The games are often scheduled when I want to do other things.
  10. My parents took me to games all the time when I was young.
  11. I have recently read a book on sports and feel that I know more than the coaches.
  12. I don’t want to take my children to any games. I don’t want to influence them one way or the other. They can later choose for themselves what sport they like best.

These lame excuses are not really used to stay away from sports events. They are used by people who don’t want to attend Church. This list is not original with me, I have forgotten where I first read these excuses, but they are just as lame today as they have always been.

If a person does not want to do something, one excuse is as good as another. None of them will hold up at the Judgement Seat of Christ. No, this pastor has not really quit sports, but you can see how ridiculous the excuses given for missing church really are when we apply them to sports events.
