Two arrested on drug charges and for fleeing and evading following early morning police pursuit

drugarrestCALVERT CITY – Two people were arrested early this morning after police were led on a vehicle pursuit reaching speeds in excess of 100 miles per-hour. According to police reports, Marshall County Sgt. Samantha Mighell was notified by McCracken County Dispatch just before 3 a.m. that a county officer had observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed advising the driver was not stopping.

Sgt. Mighell observed the vehicle exit I-24 onto the Purchase Parkway and attempted to make a traffic stop when the vehicle accelerated, again refusing to stop. After utilizing Precision Immobilization Techniques, the vehicle was stopped on the Purchase Parkway at exit 27 near Calvert City.

Officers discovered a female subject had been driving and a male passenger was also located in the vehicle. Speeds during the pursuit exceeded 120 mph at times with the driver noted to be “weaving in and out of lanes” around other motor vehicles.

The subjects were removed from the vehicle. Upon further investigation, Deputies observed marijuana in the door and a plastic baggy of white crystal substance that tested positive for methamphetamine in the passenger seat. There was also a large sum of money in the car.

The driver, Leslie Williams 18, of Harrisburg, IL was arrested and charged with speeding in excess of over 26 MPH over the limit, first-degree fleeing or evading police, first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (Methamphetamine), possession of marijuana and failure of owner to maintain required insurance.

The passenger, Tony D. Patrick 30, of Lucedale, AL, was arrested and charged with possession of Marijuana and possession of a controlled substance 1st Degree (Methamphetamine). Both Williams and Patrick were lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.
