Marshall County Sheriff’s Report – March 23

sheriffDrug Possession
On 03-20-2015 Marshall County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Cory Curtner conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle being operated by a Matthew Kohlenberger, age 20, of Murray. Subject was stopped for speeding and after a short investigation Kohlenberger was arrested for Possession of a controlled substance 1st degree.

Deputy Curtner located several Hydrocodone pills in cigarette cellophane when they fell to the ground when Kohlenberger was asked to step out of the vehicle. Kohlenberger was lodged in the Detention Center.

DUI 2nd
On 3/21/2015 Marshall County Sheriff’s Deputy Cory Curtner responded to an injury accident on 68W. Driver of one of the vehicles involved was a Dale Wyatt. Mr. Wyatt was determined to be under the influence of an intoxicating substance and was placed under arrest. Mr. Wyatt repeatedly gave Deputy Curtner a false name, after being warned it was a crime to do so.

The registration on the vehicle that he was driving had been cancelled due to failure to maintain insurance on the vehicle. Mr. Wyatt, age 55, of Benton was charged with Operating Motor Vehicle under the influence (aggravating circumstances), operating on a suspended license, no registration plates, no insurance, and giving officer a false name.

DUI
On Saturday 3-21-2015 Sgt. Samantha Mighell conducted a traffic stop on Mimosa Ln in regards to a vehicle driving with the rear cargo light on and making jerking driving movements. The subject was unable to produce and insurance card and a strong odor of alcohol was present in the vehicle.

The driver was given the field sobriety test in which many indicators were present of being under the influence. Tony Oliver 32, of Benton, was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence and Failure to Produce Insurance Card.

DUI
On Sunday 3-22-2015 Deputy Barry Howell observed a vehicle coming towards him at a high rate of speed on US Hwy 62. Deputy Howell conducted a traffic stop on the Purchase Parkway. When vehicle came to a stop the driver of the vehicle jumped in the back seat and the subject in the back seat moved to the front.

The subject was asked to exit the vehicle and a strong odor of alcoholic beverage was present on the subject. The subject was then given the field sobriety test in which many signs indicated being under the influence.

Troy H. Redmond 21, of Benton, was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence, Possession of an Open Alcoholic Beverage Container in Motor Vehicle and Speeding 26 MPH or > Speed Limit.

DUI
On Sunday 3-22-2015 Deputy Dan Melone received a call in reference to a subject breaking into a vehicle on Lewis Ln in Tatumsville. The suspect gained entry into the vehicle and left the scene. The suspect crashed into another car in Draffenville. When Deputy Melone arrived on scene the suspect was very unsteady on his feet and stated that he had taken medication.

The field sobriety test was given in which many indicators were present to be under the influence. There were some pills found in the vehicle in which there is still an ongoing investigation going on the case. Kyle Crittenden 30, of Hardin, was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence.

This week Marshall County Deputies responded to 221 incidents. This includes 9 traffic crashes, three with injuries, 37 warrants / papers served, 14 follow up investigations, 10 complaints, and 28 traffic stops.
