Weekend fire destroys Aurora business

A Marshall County business was destroyed and its owner was severely injured after a fire early Sunday morning.

Fire Chief Ricky Sirls said at approximately 1:00 am, several agencies reported to a fire at Lakeland Resort in Aurora.

According to Sirls, the building was  fully engulfed by the time firefighters arrived.

Sirls said guests broke a window to rescue the owner.

The owner was airlifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville for treatment of burns and smoke inhalation where he is stable at this time.

The building was a total loss.
