
On May 1, 2022, at approximately 12:45 PM, Deputy Zac Smith and Deputy John Cavin were dispatched to the area of KY 303 and Tom Drive for a two-vehicle injury collision. The investigation showed that a 2016 Chevrolet SUV, operated by Crystal Sanderson, 31 of Cuba, was southbound on KY 303. Sanderson’s vehicle topped a rise in the roadway and came upon a 2014 Buick four door operated by Ginger Counts, 68 of Mayfield, that was stopped on KY 303 to wait for traffic to clear in order to make a left turn onto Tom Drive. Sanderson’s vehicle collided with the rear of Counts’ vehicle.
Sanderson did not complain of any injuries after the collision. Three passengers in her vehicle, Luke Sanderson,4 of Cuba, Triniti Sanderson, 7, and Christin Webb, 9, all had minor injuries but declined transport to the hospital. Counts was transported by Mayfield / Graves County EMS for minor injuries. A passenger in her vehicle, Xander McMullin, 17, was not injured in the collision.
As deputies were investigating this collision, traffic on KY 303 was stopped due to one lane being blocked. As vehicles were stopped, a second traffic collision occurred approximately one-quarter of a mile south of Tom Drive on State Route 303.
Alyca Aguilar, 20, of Mayfield was northbound on State Route 303 in a 2009 Jeep Wrangler when she failed to stop for stopped vehicles in front of her. Aguilar’s vehicle impacted the rear end of a 2016 Dodge Durango driven by Heather Delk, 27, of Sedalia. The force of the impact pushed Delk’s vehicle into the rear end of a 2003 Chevrolet pickup driven by Stephanie Goldsberry, 50, of Fancy Farm.
Heather Delk was transported to Jackson Purchase Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. A passenger in Delk’s vehicle, Luke Delk, 7, received minor injuries in the collision.
Alyca Aguilar and her passenger, Malcom Gilbert, 20, of Mayfield, complained of pain but refused medical treatment or transport.
Stephanie Goldsberry also complained of pain but refused medical treatment or transport.
Deputy Smith and Deputy Cavin were assisted at the scene by Mayfield / Graves County EMS, the Kentucky State Police and Mayfield / Graves County Fire and Rescue.
