The Benton Partnership Committee met at Benton City Hall on Friday, November 20.
In their financial report, $9,283.21 was in the account; however, the ticket deposit money for the Progressive Dinner was not detracted from the total.
The Benton ‘Master Plan,’ that includes lights for the parking lot for the Children’s Arts Center on East 12th Street has been tabled for the foreseeable future and has been put in the hands of the Benton City Council.
The fire department ‘Thank You Meal’ has been scheduled for December 7, at 5:00 pm, at the Benton Fire Department for all volunteers that have helped during the Benton Car-Cruise In’s and Dickens Christmas for free.
Businesses that have been contacted and agreed to purchase Christmas lights from the Partnership for a $1.75 a foot, along with a $100 donation, include: Parkway Chrysler, ReMax Real Estate Associates, Regions Bank, Hutchens Bar-B-Q, Cash Express, 1st Kentucky Bank, Puckett’s Jewelry and First Baptist Church.
As for the Dickens Christmas Festival on the Court Square on Saturday, December 12, they will be adding lights to the Dickens Alley thanks to $1,000 provided by the City of Benton. It will be a total of 400 feet that will go towards 11th Street.
Bleachers will also be set up and provided by the City and Fair Board for the nighttime parade guests.
The warming center will be moved next to City Hall with the stage still in front of the courthouse.
In new business, the Partnership will purchase a full-page ad for $750 in the Kentucky Lake Chamber of Commerce Travel Guide.
Finally, the Community Christmas Concert will be Sunday, December 6th, at 2:00 pm at the Children’s Arts Center.
