Gene Gilliand was present representing West KY Regional Chamber Alliance to discuss what they do and to also ask for a donation for their upcoming West KY Thank You Night in Frankfort on February 11, 2016, which was passed.
Gilliand also represented Benton Partnership. The Marshall County Arts Commission would like more decorative lights around the block of the Children’s Arts Center. Gilliand said there are matching block grants available, but in order to receive them there has to be a master plan in place.
Kevin Farley presented his concern about the trash cans being left out all week. Farley said it is an eyesore as well as a safety hazard and asked if anything could be done. Butch Holland recommended putting a safety announcement on WCBL, while Mayor Dotson said she will contact Republic Services and other cities to see how they handle this situation.
Mayor Dotson read the agreement with Marshall County Fiscal Court to purchase salt together, along with the City of Hardin and Calvert City. The price is $65.50 per ton for 100 tons of salt.
There was a first reading of an ordinance adjusting Hardin Water’s rate from $1.49 to $1.67, effective January 1, 2016.
City Attorney Marty Johnson read a resolution between the City of Benton and Marshall County Fiscal Court approving the sale of the Fleetwood Project located at 200 Venture Lane to Steven Alexander for $350,000.
