Kathy was born September 8, 1954, to Grover and Martha Hastings in Bloomington, IN. As the daughter of a United States Air Force pilot, Kathy spent part of her youth living abroad in England, as well as in the States, before enrolling at David Lipscomb College (now Lipscomb University). She would graduate with a degree in physical education, but it was during her time at Lipscomb that Kathy met the love of her life, Gary. The two of them would build a loving Christian family, with their son Landon, and share the next 47 years together on a farm outside of Benton, KY. Kathy enjoyed traveling with family and friends, including many cruises, visits to Disney World, and camping trips over the years.
Kathy was a faithful member of the Briensburg church of Christ, where she loved working with young people. Over the years, she served as a mentor for young Christians, as a Sunday school teacher, as well as hosting many youth group events. In her professional life, Kathy impacted the lives of thousands of students during her 22 years as an educator in the Marshall County School District. While she did not seek recognition for her teaching, she was awarded a Teacher of the Year honor for her work in the classroom. After her retirement from teaching in 2009, Kathy continued to serve others by creating very intricate handmade cards, including making birthday cards for every member of her church.
Kathy is survived by her husband Gary Clark, son Landon Clark and daughter-in-law Teresa, granddaughters Caden and Tegan, mother Martha Hastings, brother Keith Hastings, sister Kristy Hall and husband John, nephew Aaron Hall and wife Natalie with great-niece Sydney, nephew Andrew Hall, and niece Allyson Kelly and husband A.J., mother-in-law Carrie Clark, and great-aunt Marilyn Owens. She was preceded in death by her father, Grover Hastings.
The family would like to offer their gratitude to Dr. Terri Telle, Dr. Cara Hammonds, Dr. Kenneth Ford, Laura Kelso, FNP-B, NP, Chelsea Cole, NP, and Kelly Derrington, APRN for providing care and support to Kathy over the years.
