
Mrs. Janet Asaleen Whitaker, age 84, of Kevil, Kentucky, passed away on November 19, 2021, at Mercy Health Hospice Center in Paducah.
Janet was born on February 15, 1937, during the midst of the 1937 flood. Janet was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. She loved to sing and play the piano and for a period of time she was part of a gospel quartet. She was a bookkeeper by trade and co-owned Whitaker Equipment Company. Janet loved animals but she mostly loved her two special dogs, Missy and Dandy.
Janet is survived by her son, from previous husband Jerold Bowman, Jerold Alan Bowman (Dona) of LaCenter; one daughter, from previous husband Lowell Whitaker, Necie Whitaker Sutherland (Brooks) of Symsonia; also, Paul Daniel Whitaker (Sandra) of Bandana, Kentucky, and Beth Pearson Mings (Rick) of Oak Grove, Minnesota; eight grandchildren, Dyllan Simmons, Clarissa Mings, Paula Whitaker, Chrissy Whitaker, Paul Daniel Whitaker Jr., Breezy Whitaker, Tyler Sutherland, Rylen Sutherland; and ten great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her long-time life partner for 31 years, Charles Pearson; her parents, Rev. Jesse Rye and Pauline Rye of Wickliffe; two sisters who died at birth, Amie Caroline Rye and Judy Diane Rye; and a great-grandson DeAcon Ford.
A service is scheduled for 1:00 PM on Monday, November 22, 2021 at Milner & Orr of Wickliffe with Bro. Dyllan Simmons and Rev. Jim Fulton officiating.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until service time on Monday, November 22,2021 at Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Wickliffe. The family encourages all attending the visitation and funeral to wear casual clothes.
